Almost One Month Down! This has been an excellent week at FVMS, and believe it or not, we have almost completed the first month of school! While these first few weeks have certainly had their challenges, I can honestly say that this has been the absolute best start to a school year. Our students are settling into routines, our teachers are digging into instruction, and we continue to see the positive effects of the expectations and structures we established from Day 1. Parents, thank you for sharing these wonderful students with us each day. We appreciate the trust you place in us, and we are excited about what we are building together.
The momentum is real. Let's keep it going!
Handbook Signature Pages – FINAL Reminder If you have not already done so, please complete the handbook signature pages and return them to your child's homeroom teacher. If you need another copy of the packet, please contact the front office or your child's homeroom teacher, and we will be happy to provide one. The FINAL day to return handbook signature forms is Monday, August 31.
Please understand that these forms are important. Students who do not have the required forms on file may not be able to participate in some of the fun activities and opportunities we have planned for this semester. We have some GREAT things coming, and we want every Trojan to be able to participate, so get those forms in!

Academic Focus Begins Next Week! Beginning next week, we will officially launch Academic Focus.
Academic Focus is dedicated time built into our school day to provide students with additional academic support, targeted remediation, enrichment, schoolwide learning, and social-emotional development. Simply put, AF gives us another opportunity to meet students where they are and provide them with what they need to grow.
Here's what the week will look like:
Mondays – Zoom with Ms. Johnson
We'll use this time for schoolwide conversations about expectations, important information, student success, character, and other topics that help us remain connected and moving in the same direction.
Tuesdays–Thursdays – Remediation & Enrichment
Students will receive targeted support in content areas based on their academic needs. Some students may work on skills they haven't mastered yet, while others will participate in enrichment designed to extend their learning and challenge them.
Fridays – Social-Emotional Learning
Students will participate in lessons designed to strengthen skills such as decision-making, communication, managing emotions, building healthy relationships, resolving conflicts, setting goals, and understanding themselves and others. These are important life skills that help students succeed both inside and outside of the classroom.
Parents, please encourage your Trojan to take Academic Focus seriously and make the most of the time provided. Academic Focus isn't "free time." It is another intentional opportunity for us to help every student become stronger academically and personally.
Our Trojans Nailed Safety Drill Day !Last week, we completed our required safety drills, and I have to give our students a BIG shoutout. They did an outstanding job! Our students listened carefully, followed staff directions, remained calm, and took the drills seriously. That is exactly what we needed from them. Safety drills are not something we conduct simply to check a box. Practicing allows our students and staff to know what to do, where to go, and how to respond should we ever face an actual emergency. We learned from the process, identified areas we can continue strengthening, and most importantly, saw that our students can follow procedures when it matters.

Parent Tip of the Week: Try the Sunday Reset As academics begin to pick up, this week's parent tip is simple: Take 10 minutes on Sunday to reset for the week.

Don't wait until progress reports to discover an assignment was never submitted.
What's in that bookbag?
Middle school bookbags can become their own ecosystems! Clear out old papers, find forms that need signatures, and make sure necessary supplies are there.
What's one goal for the week?
It could be academic, behavioral, attendance-related, or personal. Have your student name one thing they want to do better this week.
Ten intentional minutes at home can make a tremendous difference in how prepared your child feels walking through our doors on Monday morning.
One Month of Momentum Trojan Family, we are approaching one month together, and I could not be more excited about the partnerships we are already building.
