Good morning Parents and Community Partners,
We were certainly grateful for the unexpected break yesterday, but even more grateful that everyone remained safe and that no severe weather made its way into Middle Georgia. We hope your families stayed safe and comfortable during the storms.
⏳ 20 Instructional Days Until Milestones
Including today, we have 20 instructional days left before the Georgia Milestones Assessment System.
I’ll be honest—I am both excited and a little nervous. I’m excited because I know our scholars are going to take this opportunity to do their best, show what they know, and blow this test out of the water. I’m a little nervous simply because this year introduces a new reading/ELA test format, and like everyone else across the state, we are eager to see how it unfolds. Either way, I am confident that Trojans will show up and show out.
Please continue encouraging your students to practice something each day. Be sure to check out our Trojan Testing Tips, which include ways families can engage students in preparing for the test at home.
📅 Attendance Matters
We will be working hard over the next two weeks leading up to Spring Break, so it is very important that students are present and on time each day.
Peach County Schools will be closed March 30 – April 3 for Spring Break.
Students will return to school Monday, April 6.
The days between now and Spring Break are critical for instruction and preparation.
🍀 Pathways to Success: Academic Night
We hope you will join us tonight for our Pathways to Success Academic Night, taking place from 5:00–6:30 PM in the FVMS Gymnasium.
This event is designed to help families learn practical ways to support their child’s academic growth as we prepare for the Georgia Milestones Assessment System and beyond.
Families will be able to:
Learn strategies to support learning at home
Participate in critical thinking activities with their child
Connect with teachers and staff
Discover resources that help students grow academically
There will also be games, fun activities, and gifts throughout the evening, so you definitely don’t want to miss it.
We look forward to seeing families come together for an evening focused on learning, collaboration, and community.
🗣️ Title I Parent Feedback Session – Your Voice is Gold
Before Academic Night begins, we invite families to stop by the front office area for a Title I Parent Feedback Session.
As part of this special event, Your Voice is Gold, and we encourage you to attend and share your valuable input regarding:
School Policies
School–Parent Compacts
The 1% Parent Engagement Budget
Our School Improvement Plan
During this time, you can meet with Mrs. Sullivan, our Family Engagement Coordinator, to share ideas about how we can strengthen our school policies and parent compacts.
I will also be on hand to talk about our school improvement goals and priorities for the year.
After this session, we will transition into Academic Night activities in the gym. Come a little early, share your input, and stay for the fun. We look forward to seeing you there.
📊 STAR Assessment
This week we will administer our final STAR Assessment of the school year.
ELA STAR – Wednesday, March 18
Math STAR – Thursday, March 19
These assessments help us predict student readiness for Milestones and allow teachers to create targeted remediation groups so we can strengthen skills before testing begins.
Please encourage your scholar to take their time and give their best effort, as these results help us tailor instruction to their needs.
🎓 Attention 8th Grade Parents – Upward Bound Opportunity
If you would like your child to participate in Upward Bound through Fort Valley State University, please ensure they turn in their completed forms by this Friday.
Upward Bound is a federally funded program designed to help students prepare for college and academic success. The program provides academic support, mentoring, tutoring, and opportunities that expose students to college experiences and expectations.
🎨 Trojan Arts Gala (TAG)
Our Trojan Arts Gala (TAG) will take place this Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Peach County High School Gymnasium.
TAG is a district-wide event celebrating the accomplishments of our fine arts programs across Peach County Schools.
Come out and support our students as:
Our chorus and band students perform
Families view and enjoy the artwork created by our talented art students
We hope to see you there supporting the arts at FVMS.
🎺 Congratulations to Our Band Students – LGPE
Congratulations to our band students, who performed last Wednesday at LGPE, which stands for Large Group Performance Evaluation.
LGPE is an important statewide performance event where band and chorus programs are evaluated on musical performance and musicianship. Schools are scored on a scale where 1 is the highest rating possible.
Our band earned:
A 2 in sight reading
A 3 for their on-stage performance
We are incredibly proud of our students and Ms. Woodall for their hard work and dedication. We look forward to building on this success and seeing continued growth next year.
Good luck to our chorus students, who are performing for LGPE today.
Go Trojans!
✨ Winter Formal
Our Winter Formal will take place Friday, March 20 from 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM.
Students are invited to enjoy an evening of music, dancing, and fun with friends. It will be a great opportunity for our scholars to relax, celebrate the school year, and enjoy time together in a positive environment. Concessions will be sold during the dance, so make sure to bring a little spending money in case all that dancing works up an appetite for a snack break.
Students—bring on the glitz and the blitz! Dress your best, bring your energy, and get ready for a memorable night at FVMS.
Please note:
Students must be present for at least half of the school day on Friday and meet behavior requirements in order to attend the dance.
⚽ Soccer Update
Great effort by both of our soccer teams this past Saturday against Rutland Middle School. Although both teams fell short, our Trojans played with heart and determination, and we are proud of their effort.
Our next soccer match will be March 26 at 5:30 PM here at FVMS against Miller Middle School. Come out and support our student-athletes!
🏃 Track & Field
Our next track meet will be March 18 at 5:00 PM at Peach County High School. We look forward to another strong showing from our Trojan athletes.
