Weekly Update

Good morning, FVMS Families,

We are off today in honor of Veterans Day, taking a moment to thank and recognize all who have served our country. We would especially like to thank those who have served here at FVMS: 7th grade Social Studies teacher Ms. Christina Marin and our Family Engagement Coordinator Ms. Donna Green Sullivan. Your service and dedication inspire us all!

End-of-Semester Reminders
Counting this week, we have only 5 weeks left before the semester ends. Please work with your student to turn in missing assignments and help them stay focused as we finish the semester strong.

  • Final Exams: December 18–19. Finals are cumulative, covering all standards taught this year, and will account for 20% of your student’s grade. Study guides will be provided in December. Staying on top of assignments and reviewing now will help your student succeed!

State Championship Game
Our Trojans will now face Redan Middle School from Dekalb County in the Battle of the Metro Middle School State Championship Game on Saturday, November 15 at 2:45 p.m. at Lakewood Stadium located at:

Annual Food Drive – Supporting Our Community
Our Central Office has kicked off the annual food drive, and FVMS is joining in! As Thanksgiving approaches, let’s reflect on our blessings and help those in need.

  • Donations will be collected through Friday, November 14

  • Benefiting:

    • The Good Samaritan Food Pantry (Byron)

    • The Grace House Community Food Bank (Fort Valley)

  • Requested items: canned goods, boxed stuffing, instant potatoes, rice/pasta, soups, Jell-O/pudding mix, mac & cheese, muffin mix, 100% fruit or vegetable juice, bottled water, oils, broths, peanut butter, applesauce, pie filling, cake mix, crackers, sugar, salt, pepper, flour, spices

Thank you for helping us feed our community—no child deserves to go hungry.

Fall Curriculum/Literacy Night – December 2
Join us from 5:30–6:30 p.m. to learn about how to support your student in reading. This is a great opportunity for parents to understand how they can actively help their student grow academically.

  • 8th Grade Parents: Immediately following the Literacy Night, at 6:30 p.m. in the gym, meet with Ms. Johnson to review the expectations for students making the transition to 9th grade. Each year, parents are confused about what skills, grades, and requirements their students must meet to be promoted to high school. Let us take the worry out and help you support your child.
