FVMS Weekly Updates

Dear Parents and Families,

I hope this message finds you well and full of school spirit! What an exciting time at Fort Valley Middle School. First, let’s give a huge congratulations to our football team on their 50–0 victory over Cirrus Academy last Saturday! We are so proud of our players and coaches for their hard work and determination.

In addition to our football win, we also had some great instruction taking place in classrooms this week. Our teachers were able to spend valuable time planning lessons to enhance student learning, and we are so thankful for the dedicated substitutes in our community who make this possible. We truly couldn’t do it without you!

🏈 Football Updates

Our next game is Wednesday, October 1st, at 6:00 p.m. against Byron Middle School at Peach County High School as we defend our 4–0 run. We’ll also hold our first pep rally that day—be on the lookout for Spirit Week details coming soon!

⏰ Attendance & Tardies

School begins promptly at 7:45 a.m. Students not in class by then are marked tardy. Beginning October 1st, tardies will be closely monitored. Saturday School, after-school detention, or ISS may be assigned if tardies become a pattern.

📱 Cell Phones

As a reminder, under the State of Georgia’s ban on student cell phone use during instructional time, students must keep their phones in bookbags—not in pockets or hands. Cell phones should not be used for texting, social media, or games during the school day. Misuse of cell phones will result in confiscation and may lead to additional consequences.

📸 Fall Pictures – September 29

Fall pictures will be taken on Monday, September 29. This will be the photo used in the yearbook, so please remind your student to come looking their best.

  • Students using paper forms should hand them directly to the photographer on picture day.

🍧 Kona Ice – September 24

Kona Ice will be here Wednesday, September 24th. The cost is $4.00, and proceeds benefit our media center.

🎉 Behavior Celebration – October 17

We’re excited for our first behavior celebration of the year—a Dodgeball Battle to the Death! Students are eligible if they:

  • Have had no suspensions (in-school, out-of-school, or bus)

  • Have no more than 5 unexcused absences

  • Have no more than 2 minor classroom referrals

Last year’s event was a blast, and we can’t wait to celebrate our amazing scholars again this year!

🙌 Attendance Reminder

Consistent attendance is one of the most important factors in student success. Please make every effort to ensure your child is in class every day, on time, and ready to learn.

Thank you for your continued support of Fort Valley Middle School, "Where Learning IS Required!" Let’s make this another great week of learning and growing together as One Team, With One Dream! Have a wonderful evening, Trojans!

With gratitude,

Ms. Kizzy S. Johnson
